I don't know if these drivers need to be offered in ISO formatted image or if other formats are supported too. These Elite and Z product family have an additional chip in their chipset which get integrated with these customized drivers as I've been told by a tech supporter of an MSP. For the ZBook, there will be more customized drivers (as well as for EliteBooks which you don't have in your list). For the ProBook model, it is just the GPU driver which is customized. Depending on model, HP has customized generic drivers either for energy saving or for security. But his last number (6) might become relevant for a clean install in order to use the custom HP drivers for several models as far as available. I don't know how Adrian is counting in his previous reply. Or you might try a clean installation with Windows 11 if supported for these models. If HP reports that inplace upgrade is supported for your configuration of these HP models and Microsoft confirms Windows 11 supported on these models for your configuration, then you might try repeating inplace upgrade but with the upgrade assistant offered by Microsoft. They are worth further analysis when you want to proceed with upgrade and may provide hints which approach to try. If the upgrade has already failed, then it leaves a log with further details for the reasons it had failed. JFrezn wrote:especially if the upgrade had already failed once. I have read from some HP forums that some models may need the HP OS ISO or OS installers CD (or HP OS recovery CD) as there might be some HP drivers needed during the OS installation if you going thru the "force Win11" or ISO route. Why the need to hide and stop all MS services ? Some services like Windows update may need to be running ? Then are you running any AV or other security software as there are some known AV that causes Win11 update issues (they prevent changes to windows core files & drivers etc).Ħ. I am not sure about HP (some mentioned that the HP auto detect does not always work) but the Dell command update works for most dell Optiplex, Prevision & Latitude machines.ģ. Is windows 11 supported fully on those systems ? Why is Win 11 not showing on windows updates ?Ģ. I think my team have easily updated win 10 to win 11 using windows update for at least 5000 to 8000 lappy with only 1 case of BSOD (bad sector or faulty SSD, they after replaced, no issues).ġ. It's got to be a driver that needs to be updated or a program, but I can't figure out which one. MSconfig.exe, Services, Hide all MS services, Disable AllĬomputer models I've noticed this happening include: Especially the latest video, network, and BIOS updates.ģ. I'll run the detect function to find recommended drivers and also search/apply other drivers. Here are the steps I've found to work best on newer computers:Ģ. When I look in the event viewer to find the dmp file to troubleshoot the issue it shows the dmp file failed to be created. These computers will BSOD somewhere around 80-90% of the upgrade process. I have noticed that 2-4 year-old Windows 10 HP computers that are Windows 11 compatible have a lower success rate for upgrading to Win 11.
